Cherry Sandals
[Shoes makeover]
My boyfriend once said that the reason he loves me wearing high heels is the sexy click sound I make when I walk. He claims he could recognize my (clicking) walk from miles away. Men and their special powers! 😉 Well flats are maybe not as sexy as the “curvy” high heels but they are sure comfortable and absolutely essential in summer.
But there are some ways to make flat sandals sexy and chic. In today’s tutorial I show you how to make a “cherry” embellishment that can change the entire look of your shoes and add the “sexy” clicking sound (due to the beads bumping) to your sandals. Note that you can easy remove the cherries from the shoes and attach them to any piece of your wardrobe- clutch, belt, Jeans…
You will need:
- Sandals
- Cord
- 4 red pearls. I used wooden pearls I painted with red nail polisher
- Piece of green leather or similar material
- Scissors, punch pliers, pen, glue, tape
Draw 4 little cherry leafs on the wrong side of the leather and cut them out.
Glue them onto an additional leather piece, sew around the edges and cut out the finished leafs. This step is only necessary if you’re using thin leather. Otherwise you can skip this step and just prepare 4 leafs.
Punch holes into the finished leafs with the biggest tool on your punch pliers.
Cut two (ca. 15cm/6″) cord straps and wrap the tape around the ends to make it easier to push them through the pearls and the leafs.
Secure the cords with the glue directly under the pearl.
Trim the ends and fray the tails.
Knot the cherries on the sandals and you are done!
