Key and Padlock Leather Rings
[Easy level tutorial]
If you ever wanted to design your own rings this tutorial shows you a creative and very easy way to do it. All you need are a small piece of leather and little charm. I prefer to work with leather because it is such a robust material. It lasts forever and rarely loses it’s shape. In case you don’t like leather then felt, faux leather or PVC material are a good replacement for it.
But what makes this rings so cool is the connected design- in my case the key and the padlock. The “couple” rings would make a great gift for your best friend, your sister or your mom. In that case I would recommend to go for less “romantic” charms. Pick something you and your loved ones have in common. Maybe a little reminder of a trip you did together (Eiffel Tower and Bicycle charm) or a hobby you both love (scissors and sewing machine charms).
Here you will find a huge collection of all types of charms: link.
Cut 2 thin leather straps based on the circumference of your fingers. You won’t need seam allowance. |
Attach the charms to the center of the straps. |
Secure the ends of the threads on the other side of the straps. |
Fold the straps to form a ring and sew the ends together with two parallel stitches. Then secure the thread ends with a knot. |
